Last year we got introduced to London-based alternative pop duo pecq and their great single ‘It’s A Lie‘. Today, the duo consisting of Nikò O’Brien and Hannah (Jakes) Jacobs return with a stunning new single ‘Left Behind’. Together with the new single pecq also announces their upcoming EP ‘Amnesia’s Ritual’ out May 9th.

On their new single ‘Left Behind’, pecq create a beautiful portrayal of loss and the emotions that come with it. Written in response to the suicidie of a close friend, ‘Left Behind’ is a stunning personal song that despite its subject matter still has a touch of hopefulness thanks to the infectious chorus. The new single is a testament to the duo’s ability to create deeply personal and beautiful alternative pop music and we can’t wait to see what these rising talents release next! About the new single Nikò says:

‘I wrote my first ever songs just after the suicide of one of my closest friends and former bandmate. I think everything I’ve written since then has been about that in some way. Music has been a way to stay connected to them and process the intensity of the things I saw and experienced. This song is the first time I’ve felt able to deal with a lot of stuff I was too scared to revisit before. A big part of that was writing the lyrics with Jakes which helped to distill and accept things that felt too big for my own words. Being able to share these intense feelings has been the best way for me to deal with them. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if I hadn’t been able to talk to friends and make music’.
