TOPS are really delivering the goods this year. Every single they’ve shared from their upcoming album Bury the Key has felt like a step up, and new track ‘Annihilation’ might just be their best one yet. With a slightly darker, groovier edge, this latest release sees the Montréal band exploring fresh sonic territory and we’re loving every second of it.
Built around a drum part by Riley Fleck, ‘Annihilation’ carries a hypnotic, fill-heavy groove that underpins its reflective, emotionally charged lyrics. It’s a song about living in a chaotic world, feeling overwhelmed by loss, and the strange balance between surrender and moving forward. As the band puts it, “It’s easy to fear the future, but in the end, nothing is ever finished—you just gotta follow your heart.”
With ‘Bury the Key’ set for release next month, every single so far has been nothing short of stellar. We can’t wait for the full record!
‘Annihilation‘ is out now on all platforms. ‘Bury The Key‘ arrives August 22nd via Ghostly International.
