Girl Ray unveil their first new music of 2023 with ‘Everybody’s Saying That’. It’s their first new music since 2021’s ‘Give Me Your Love‘ and last year’s cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’.

The UK trio always deliver with every single they put out and new song ‘Everybody’s Saying That’ is no exception. It’s a feel-good disco inspired song that is filled with infectious synths and sweeping strings. About the new single the band’s Poppy Hankin says:

The lyrics on this single were inspired by the straight-to-the-heart simplicity of the disco greats. I wrote it while missing my partner while on tour in 2020, and it plays on themes of new love and self-doubt.

“Musically we took reference from the nu-disco resurgence that seemed to be taking off in 2020, in particular from the likes of Kylie Minogue (Disco), Jessie Ware (What’s Your Pleasure?), Dua Lipa (Future Nostalgia) and Róisín Murphy (Róisín Machine). We were really inspired by all of these women re-imagining disco.”

We have yet to get an announcement for their highly anticipated follow-up to their 2019 album ‘Girl’, but we are hoping with this new single their off to bless us with more great music this year. Until then, check out the sweet and colourful music video directed by Alice Harding below.
