MaryLou Mayniel aka Oklou arrived on the scene last year with her stellar debut EP “The Rite Of May“. You might know the French singer and producer as a co-founder of collective and label NUXXE. A record label created together with Coucou Chloe, Sega Bodega and Shygirl.
Oklou’s sound has changed quite a bit compared to her debut EP. While the later was more ambient electronic mixed with a bit of R&B, new single “Forever” is definitely the most pop the artist has ever sounded. However, it feels like a natural progression for the Parisian-based artist. “Forever” is full of lush synths and the artist’s soft, almost whispering vocals. It gives us a nostalgic feeling to the late 90s / early 200s indie-pop music. Fans of Clairo and MUNA will love this song, it’s indie-pop perfection. Yet still keeping that Oklou touch! We are loving this evolution in sound and can’t wait to hear what else Oklou has in store for us!
