Copenhagen-based artist Jaim has shared her new single ‘Open Source‘, and it’s my first time discovering her and I’m instantly a fan! I really can never get enough of the alternative pop music coming out of the Nordic countries and this is another amazing song to add to that world.
‘Open Source‘ is haunting and mesmerizing and at the same time surprisingly catchy. It’s a slow-burning art-pop track with intimate vocals and a soft but deeply insistent hook. The atmosphere she has crafted on this song is just really something special. And I’m really intrigued to hear what else Jaim has in store for us.
Speaking about the track, Jaim shares:
“I wrote it during a period of profound physical and emotional transformation. It sat unfinished for years, until the sudden loss of my father brought it back into focus — expanding its meaning into something that is equally about birth and loss, about permanent marks left by love, and about letting go of who you were in order for something new to emerge.”
‘Open Source‘ is out now.
