London via Paris electronic duo pecq are back with their new single ‘freer‘, following their acclaimed 2024 EP red moon, rare night.
I really love the atmosphere they’ve created here. It’s dreamy, soft and deeply intimate, but with a production that beautifully lets go and opens up in the chorus in the most satisfying way. It’s a gorgeous personal track, woven together from inherited instruments and old recordings, exploring how grief can make you feel strangely connected to everything around you. Such a beautiful song and a wonderful reminder of just how special this duo is.
Speaking about the track, pecq share:
“‘freer’ is about the point in grief where you become hyper-connected to tiny moments around you and you start finding people you’ve lost ‘dissolved into everything’ — in nature, in the sudden quiet at the end of the night, in the wind on a street corner.”
‘freer‘ is out now via Upcycled Sounds.
