98 Poly returns with her first new music of 2025. The London-based artist, producer and vocalist drops ‘shallow man’, a genre-blurring track that’s as sharp as it is hypnotic.

98 Poly has been steadily carving out her own space in London’s underground scene, building an audience through electrifying live shows across the city. On her first new release of this year she’s fusing industrial beats, eerie synths and signature warped vocals. It’s a smooth yet irresistibly catchy track that will undoubtedly linger in your head.

About the new song she mentions:

“Everyone’s interpretation of a song or lyric is their own and I like leaving listeners room to decide. This track is equal parts sensual and savage. It’s playful.

I wrote & produced the track between Florence, Rome and London. It was mid-heatwave in Italy so I barely touched my laptop, going pen to paper in every Baroque city square I could find. The lyric is from a free-writing exercise I did in Florence. When I got back to London I fleshed out the production as quickly as possible, on reflection I guess as a way of keeping the city and feeling tangible. I usually lead with harmony when I’m writing and producing, but I wanted to focus on a bouncy playful production on this track. I took my time with the drums, recycling old stems & on a treasure hunt for new ones. As with any 98 Poly production, there’s layer-on-layer of manipulated vocals and distorted ear-worms – they’re my cherry on top.”
