California-based artist Dora Jar has shared another taste of her upcoming debut album with new single ‘Ragdoll’. The new song follows her previous singles ‘Timelapse’, ‘She Loves Me’ and ‘Puppet’ and are all taken from the eagerly anticipated record ‘No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire’, out September 13th.
The rising star keeps on delivering with her introspective lyrics, ‘Ragdoll’ is a stunning anthem for all the existentialists. Dora’s soothing vocals shine against an exciting breakbeat production and is dripping in nostalgia. It transports us back to the alternative pop of the early 00s and we’re loving it! About the new single she says:
“Ragdoll is about me feeling sometimes powerless in my own life and also finding the power in going with the flow. If I don’t have control let me just swing around and decide I’m ok with this.”
It also plays with an oxymoron at one point. ‘You can let me fall, heavy little ragdoll.’ A ragdoll wouldn’t be heavy, but I feel that way, these opposing contradictions. I did Ketamine therapy with my mom, and it made me feel like a wooden balloon. It brought up all these contradictions within me. I’m shy and outgoing. I’m light and I’m heavy.”
‘Ragdoll‘ is out now on all platforms. ‘No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire‘ arrives September 13 Island Records.
