Jasmine White-Gluz is back with her musical project No Joy. About one month ago the singer-songwriter and musician made her surprise return with “Birthmark“. Now it’s time for a second single with “Nothing Will Hurt“. Both songs are taken from No Joy’s highly anticipated new album “Motherhood“. Which marks No Joy’s first full length release in 5 years!
On her latest material No Joy is re-shaping the sound of her older days. It’s the result of years composing outside of her comfort zone and returning to a DIY style. Finding her roots in shoegaze, No Joy’s evolving sound now includes some thrilling electronic touches. First single “Birthmark” is a delicious slice of alternative pop, with hints of trip-hop. Taking us back to that 90s sound and reminding us slightly of Massive Attack. New single “Nothing Will Hurt” is a perfect continuation of that sound. Delivering a nostalgic, yet euphoric track full of lush and dreamy sounds and vocals.
No Joy’s new album “Motherhood” is out August 21st via Joyful Noise / Hand Drawn Dracula.
