Norwegian singer-songwriter Red Moon makes her highly anticipated return with new single ‘I Run’. It marks her first new music in three years. To celebrate her return and new music she also unveils an accompanying music video directed by Marie Sutter, which you can watch below.
Red Moon instantly stole our hearts with her angelic vocals, intricate lyrics and mezmerising soundscape a few years ago. Luckily, she’s finally making her return and blowing us away on her new single ‘I Run’. It sees Red Moon go into a different musical direction, experimenting with pop and drum and bass woven together by her mesmerizing and haunting vocals. We’re extremely excited that she’s back and this new soundscape fits Red Moon so well. We can’t wait to hear more!
About the new song, Red Moon mentions:
“The week I wrote this song, I met up with one of my best friends who at that time lived a bit outside of London. I hadn’t expected we’d be able to meet, but we managed to make it happen. My intention for this song was to capture the emotion of how someone close to you can enhance and elevate the different and unique sides of you. I think friendships have been a true mirror and also the ones who inspire me to become more of myself.
This song is an ode and love letter to my amazing friends, family, and soul family who have been my support system over the last three years. As a queer person living away from home, chosen family is so important. I feel very lucky and proud to have created art together with my talented friends. It takes time to find yourself as a person, often through several phases and eras of transformation. For me, as an artist, songwriter, and performer, this has truly shown in the last couple of years.
This writing session was sort of like a blind date, arranged by my manager, as I still had one day open to write with someone during the week I spent in London in November. I was very excited to work with Andrea because I knew she is a great producer and string arranger. In my mind, I thought we were going to write a cinematic, ethereal song together, but to my surprise, we ended up writing this bop with strings and drum ‘n’ bass undertones.
In the end, the song can be whatever it is for you – it could be about your best friend, someone you’re in love with, or even a mantra to yourself. I’d love for it to connect with others in the way you can dream big with your best friends.”
‘I Run‘ is out now on all platforms.
