Rachel Chinouriri has returned with a powerful new single, ‘Even’ featuring fellow BRIT School alum Cat Burns. The new song marks Chinouriri’s first release since her critically acclaimed debut album ‘What A Devestating Turn Of Event’s’.

The track dives deep into their shared experiences as Black British women, offering a poignant reflection on identity and the struggles they’ve faced. Chinouriri explains that ‘Even’ questions the limitations imposed on people of color, and why they still have to push harder just to get ahead. With raw emotion, the song resonates beyond personal stories, speaking to a broader societal issue. Adding a layer to this message, the duo has launched a podcast to explore these themes even further, offering listeners a glimpse into their journey through the music industry. You can watch their conversation below on Youtube.

About their collaboration Rachel Chinouriri mentions:

“‘Even’ is about the injustice black and POC people feel with identity in a world that can treat them foreign. Sometimes it feels like no matter what we do to fit in, we have to work twice as hard to take one step forward. The limitations that black people have had to go through are something every black person has to accept at some point but this song questions how far we need to take it and it questions why these things happen to us.”

Cat Burns adds:

“I felt honoured when Rachel asked me to jump on this beautiful song, it felt real and authentic because we genuinely have supported eachother since we were in school together! I hope people listen to our hearts with this one and understand our experience even more.”

Even‘ is out now on all platforms.
