New York producer, vocalist and DJ Vitesse X has shared her take on Filter’s late-90s alt-rock classic ‘Take A Picture‘, following her recent single ‘Memori‘.
Vitesse X seriously always delivers, but this one feels extra special — it’s extremely nostalgic, bringing me straight back to the end of the 90s, and I low-key think this might be one of my favourite things she has ever done.
The cover pulls the song out of its post-grunge context and into something hazier and more suspended, built around trip-hop-leaning drums and atmospheric dream-pop production. The addition of the guitars fits like an absolute glove and I just adore this soundscape.
Speaking about the track, Vitesse X shares:
“I was listening to ‘Take a Picture’ in the car in the winter, deep in some heavy emotions. When the song came on, I was immediately transported back to a feeling I had completely forgotten existed. A time where life felt tangible and simple and pure. It was honestly transcendental.”
‘Take A Picture’ is out now via Music Website.
