Raissa is back with a bold new single, ‘No Genius’ featuring her longtime friend and collaborator Rahim Redcar (formerly Christine and the Queens). The new single marks as the first preview of Raissa’s upcoming ‘Cute Threat’ EP and her signing to Neon Gold Records.
Raissa was born in Spain but spent her childhood between Beijing, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and London. Now based in LA, she masterfully blends her multilingual, globe-spanning influences with cutting-edge pop. Her new single ‘No Genius’ delivers sharp, thought-provoking lyrics about the growing divisions in society, all wrapped in an infectious and vibrant soundscape. It’s a powerful commentary that you can’t help but move to. Raissa continues to push the boundaries of pop, and with each release, she solidifies herself as an artist you don’t want to miss! Be sure to give the music video directed by Daniel Holliday a watch below.
About the new single she mentions:
“Lyrically guided by a channeled frustration at our increasing alienation from each other. It doesn’t take no genius to know that those who seek to divide us are up to no good. I was channeling some frustration during a particularly difficult time in the world. I think people as a collective are smarter than we give ourselves credit for. It’s some tough love for myself and my fellow human. A reminder that it doesn’t take no genius to know that those who seek to divide us, are probably up to no good.”
‘No Genius‘ is out now on all platforms via Neon Gold Records.
