Naarm/Melbourne-based songwriter effe has announced her debut EP ‘Solder’, due August 7 via Artist House, alongside lead single ‘Lick The Flame‘.

It’s my first time discovering her and I’m instantly in love with the sound she’s going for — it really scratches that nostalgic 00s itch that I just can’t get enough of. ‘Lick The Flame’ sits beautifully between Y2K radio pop and trip-hop, reckoning with false intentions in an ill-fated romance. The music video is really well done too, directed by Joe Agius and very much worth a watch.

Speaking about the track, effe shares:

“‘Lick The Flame’ is about coming to terms with the fact you’re being led on. I wrote it with Alex Craig (After) who has such an ear for that nostalgic, y2k Dido sound that I love, so he was the perfect collaborator.”

Such a promising new artist and I can’t wait to hear what’s next!
