Irish alt-pop-country sensation CMAT has just dropped the title track of her much-anticipated new album ‘EURO-COUNTRY’, and it might just be her finest moment yet. Following the release of earlier singles ‘Take A Sexy Picture OF Me!’, ‘Running/Planning’ and ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’, the new track gives another glimpse into CMAT’s ambitious third album, due August 29.
Opening with a haunting Irish-language intro and layered with emotional honesty, ‘EURO-COUNTRY’ is a deeply personal, yet highly infectious song. Speaking about the track, CMAT explains that “Euro-Country” refers to the genre she makes, Ireland’s place in Europe, and a wider frustration with capitalism. The track’s music video, set in a Dublin shopping centre, doubles down on those themes with surreal charm and visual flair.
Every single she’s shared from ‘EURO-COUNTRY’ so far has been stellar, but this title track might be our favourite yet. The new album is already shaping up to be CMAT’s biggest and best to date and we can’t wait to hear what else she has in store.
‘EURO-COUNTRY‘ arrives August 29 via Awal Recordings.
