London-based duo bookend have shared their debut EP Hi, hi not goodbye, alongside focus single ‘lighthouse’. Following on from ‘vinyl on the wall’ and ‘30 Degrees‘, the duo continues to deliver and I love everything they’re doing.

‘lighthouse‘ is a beautiful example of what makes bookend so special — the spoken parts add a really intimate touch and the production is once again really good. There’s just something incredibly soothing about their music, very calming, but never dull thanks to the vocals and the interesting production choices that keep you engaged throughout.

The EP as a whole moves between loss, hope, memory and reflection, painting a picture of heartbreak that is rarely straightforward but always deeply human. They’re honestly usuch an exciting duo and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
