Copenhagen-based artist Elliot returns with his new single ‘hot but depressive’. Following last year’s ‘affegato’ EP, the rising new talent continues to shape a dreamy indie-pop sound that’s vulnerable and emotionally direct.

hot but depressive’ dives into feelings of self-doubt, loneliness and the habit of pushing love away before it gets too close. The song opens gently with warm guitar lines before building into a catchy, cathartic chorus, carried by Elliot’s raw and soothing vocals. I’m an instant fan and can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for us!

About the song he mentions:

“It comes from self-sabotaging good intentions – from distancing yourself from love before it gets too close,
because you don’t want to hurt others with your own emotional complexity.”

“Instead of showing all the beautiful things I carry inside, I end up showing my destructive sides – the person
who never feels good enough – and then I’d rather destroy it before ending up in yet another superficial or
staged relationship. ‘hot but depressive’ is, in many ways, a song about the fear of loneliness.”
