Berlin-based audiovisual artist Liza Dries is back with a captivating new single, ‘Nightcore’. We recently featured her track ‘hello hello‘ as one half of the duo miaw, and now she delivers a hyper-pop anthem that’s the first single taken from her upcoming debut album, ‘YoR’, out next next year.
‘Nightcore’ blends nostalgic y2k synths with quirky, jungle-esque drum breaks, drawing inspiration from Owl City’s Fireflies. The track reflects on the highs and lows of love through self-reflective lyrics, capturing that emotional whirlwind. It’s a fun, yet introspective track that feels like a euphoric rush and we can’t get enough of it! Be sure to give the accompanying video, directed by Luna Grüsgen a watch below as well. It adds even more of a nostalgic layer with those early 2000s aesthetics.
About ‘Nightcore’, Liza mentions:
“I’m trying to break away from the search for adrenaline rushes. Falling in love—or close to it—is the greatest high I know. It pushes both happiness and sadness to their extremes.”
“There’s always a part of me that mirrors the traits of someone I’m into. It might be their accent, rituals, or even non-verbal quirks. When that connection ends abruptly, it causes a mental earthquake, forcing me to recalibrate my sense of self. Who am I really?”
‘Nightcore‘ is out now on all platforms via Intercept.
